WITHOUT RESERVATION MINISTRIES

While working with Without Reservation Ministries, LLC my primary task was to manage their social media pages. It was a real challenge because as a nonprofit ministry they operate in a much different way than a normal business might.

When on social media your typical business will focus on marketing their product and interacting with their customers. A nonprofit doesn’t have customers, and there isn't a product you are trying to sell. Instead you are trying to market an idea and culture. In the case of Without Reservation Ministries that idea is the importance of ministry work on the Apache Reservation. Once I understood that, I was able to focus on earning both financial and spiritual support for the ministry.

In addition to gaining support, I also worked hard to communicate what was happening on the ground, to all of our followers. These people have invested their money, and their time in this young ministry so they deserve to know what is happening. I would interact with them as much as possible, sharing what we were doing on a day-to-day basis.

For Without Reservation Ministries I used three basic types of social media posts, similar to the ones shown above. The first was of a mission team we had on the reservation that week. It was important to share for number of reasons. First and foremost it was for the members of the team and their friends, family and church back home. I wanted them to be able to see the work and activities that the team they supported were taking part in. I also posted this as a form of marketing. For someone who was thinking about a mission trip, this and the others like it could be extremely helpful in getting them to decide to come out and join the ministry for their mission trip.

The second post is of a church service, it is particularly significant because the man speaking is part of Without Reservation Ministries. I wanted all of the supporters to see what Without Reservation Ministries was doing, along with showing them the great progress we have made with getting people to church.

Finally the verse of the day posts were served as a way to interact with all of our supporters. The fact is, not every day was filled with things going on; sometimes we were just cleaning, doing maintenance and things of that nature. Verse of the Day posts were a way to continue that interaction with all of our supporters, and even provided a chance to do a little ministry to them as well.
